Postcard from Our Window.
Because not everywhere we stay has a view of meadows and sheep and waterways with windmills. Sometimes, there is just a wall to look at.

Postcard from the light at the end of the tunnel.
Waiting in Hong Kong airport means only one thing:
Eight and three-quarter hours down, twelve and three quarters to go. The light at the end of the tunnel is a very long way off indeed.

Postcard from a Rocket Train.
Which interestingly may or may not hold the current train speed record, but due to hills and tunnels and curvy bits, and the fact that it moves more people doesn't quite average the same speeds in service as its less exotic looking European brothers.

Postcard from a Museum
If you take a photograph inside a museum before you know it's not allowed, does it count?
I suspect I am about to find out.

Postcard from a cheap hotel.
Perhaps "well priced" would be a kinder description, for we are certainly happy to pay the discounted price while the Millennium awaits its inevitable rebirth.
If only we could find the name of the carpet disinfectant, we could use it at home and be travelling every day!

Postcard from a place where people smoke in cafes.
Yes, they are outdoors, and no, for those of us who don't smoke it's not pleasant to be downwind!

Postcard from a disappointment
I truly wish I could love it for its form alone, for the beaut use of materials, but is it true that no two windows are the same? What a shame!

Postcard from the oldest house in Düsseldorf
The oldest house in Dusseldorf has the newest house under construction beside it.

Postcard from a beach.
In Belgium the beaches are so long and so crowded in summer that landmarks are installed every so often which children can use as reference points to find their families.

Postcard from a disappointment

How easy it is to criticise, yet criticise I must when an architect of world acclaim designs a building of funky form with windows that neatly angle away from vertical, but forgets that the water is going to run off the very same windows exactly vertically and not along the angle that he has contrived. I could go on of course, but is a repaint every two years really a sustainable outcome?
Sadly the execution is not as the sketches may have suggested, nor how the fans proclaim it to be.
