Postcard from a cheap hotel.

Perhaps "well priced" would be a kinder description, for we are certainly happy to pay the discounted price while the Millennium awaits its inevitable rebirth.

If only we could find the name of the carpet disinfectant, we could use it at home and be travelling every day!

Postcard from a place where people smoke in cafes.

Yes, they are outdoors, and no, for those of us who don't smoke it's not pleasant to be downwind!

Postcard from a disappointment

I truly wish I could love it for its form alone, for the beaut use of materials, but is it true that no two windows are the same?   What a shame!

Postcard from a beach.

In Belgium the beaches are so long and so crowded in summer that landmarks are installed every so often which children can use as reference points to find their families.

Postcard from a disappointment

How easy it is to criticise, yet criticise I must when an architect of world acclaim designs a building of funky form with windows that neatly angle away from vertical, but forgets that the water is going to run off the very same windows exactly vertically and not along the angle that he has contrived.  I could go on of course, but is a repaint every two years really a sustainable outcome?

Sadly the execution is not as the sketches may have suggested, nor how the fans proclaim it to be.

Postcard of a riverbank taken while a hotel ship passes.

Let's just say they obscure the view of the other bank for a time.

A loooong time.

Postcard from a Shop of Curios

You know you are in France when you see a school of dolphins leaping over an encrusted clock through a circle of glass which doesn't look a bit like water.

But I do want it.

You know I do.
